We present the second issue of our article, based on an interview with sound engineer Evgeny Shparenkov. You can find the link to the first issue here
In this publication, Evgeny shares recommendations for technical specialists on sound setup for stage performances, discusses the future of the industry, and offers advice to young professionals on launching a successful career as a sound engineer.
Always remain calm. In case of problems, you should always have the means for external control of the acoustic system. Remember to maintain communication with stage personnel (technicians, assistant directors, stage managers) who are not tied to the mixing console—this could be through intercoms or analog communication lines. Promptly notifying colleagues about any issues can help quickly identify and resolve problems without halting the show.
Evgeny Shparenkov: “In my 11 years working with DiGiCo, I can recall only three instances of temporary equipment failure, none of which resulted in a concert stoppage.”
Evgeny Shparenko: “The role of information technology, network media, and new protocols will continue to grow. Over the next decade, digital consoles will evolve into a unified platform that facilitates interaction among various departments involved in events.”
Focus on self-development in related fields, seek innovative solutions for the challenges posed by artists or directors, and enhance your soft skills. It’s essential to study the basics of networking and TCP/IP protocols—without this knowledge, it’s increasingly difficult to call yourself a sound technician today.
Evgeny Shparenkov: “I believe that within the next five years, foundational knowledge of networking and IT technologies will become mandatory for technicians, engineers, and sound engineers working in the AV industry. Partially, it is already an AV-IT industry, and the integration of these previously distinct fields will only deepen.
Currently, software platforms like QLAB allow for seamless remote control of entire shows over a network using only a computer and a few different protocols. The adoption of such solutions in the sound industry is leading to the entry of professionals who are well-versed in networking technologies."
As we conclude this interview overview, it’s important to emphasize that regardless of the project you are organizing at this moment, you can rely on the technological uniqueness of the DiGiCo mixing console lineup.
The unified and flexible control interface facilitates seamless integration of SD and Quantum series consoles across all formats of shows, from small clubs to opera houses.
With this capability and 24/7 technical support, DiGiCo stage mixing consoles are highly resilient, operating with minimal failures even during the longest shows and audio broadcasts.
Wherever there is DiGiCo, there is sound.
