“Light. Sound. Stage.” — a new podcast about contemporary theatre technologies

How can you tell whether stage lighting is truly high-quality? What should sound be like to become part of a production’s dramaturgy? Where does artistic vision end and technical implementation begin?

Mark Stavtsev is launching a new series of professional video podcasts, “Light. Sound. Stage.”

Registration
In each episode, lighting designers, sound engineers, choreographers, directors, scenographers, architects and technical directors will discuss how contemporary productions are created and which criteria should be used to evaluate theatre equipment.

This is not a conversation about the number of functions or technical specifications. The focus is on the result:

— how lighting interacts with movement and scenography;
— how sound shapes the space and supports the dramaturgy;
— which technical solutions expand the possibilities available to the production team;
— what should be specified in the technical brief and rider;
— what knowledge a contemporary theatre professional needs.

Each episode will result in a set of professional criteria that can be used when designing a theatre, preparing a production and selecting equipment.

The first episode will take place on 20 July 2026.

Topic: “Light. Sound. Choreography.”

A new episode will be released once every two months.
