L-Acoustics Source Intelligence Redefines What “Clean Vocals” Really Mean

1

L-Acoustics Source Intelligence is a real-time vocal processing technology powered by the L-ISA Processor II.

Using audio source separation and machine learning, Source Intelligence isolates the human voice from audience noise, instrumental bleed into vocal microphones, PA system spill, microphone handling noise, and room reflections. The result is crystal-clear vocals with unwanted signals reduced by up to 40 dB — just the voice, with nothing unnecessary around it.

This delivers greater vocal intelligibility and gives performers more freedom on stage. Artists can move across the entire performance area and even stand in front of the main PA system without losing vocal clarity or increasing the risk of feedback.

Source Intelligence is designed for touring and festival systems, theatres, concert venues, houses of worship, and large-scale live events. The technology allows engineers to focus on the creative side of the mix, rather than constantly applying corrective signal processing.

Key benefits:

Since spring 2025, the technology has been undergoing closed, full-scale beta testing in real touring and theatrical environments, including stadium tours by Harry Styles, Bruno Mars, Nine Inch Nails, Benson Boone, and Rosalía, as well as the Broadway production of Dog Day Afternoon. The testing involved leading global rental companies and sound engineers from across the industry, including Solotech, Clair Global, PRG, and FOH engineers working with major international artists.

“Source Intelligence gives me vocal quality I have never heard before. It is now essentially studio-quality sound in a live concert environment, and it completely changes the game.”

— Joey Diehl, FOH Engineer for Benson Boone.

“I am incredibly impressed by the amount of headroom this system provides. I was able to achieve crystal-clear vocals in every scenario — including extremely loud stage environments and situations where actors stepped directly in front of the main PA system.

— Cody Spencer, Broadway Sound Designer.
