Modern corporate events, government meetings, conferences, forums and videoconferences are rarely limited to a single presentation on screen. They often require several cameras to be operated simultaneously, the presenter and supporting materials to be shown in the room, remote participants to be connected, and a separate program feed to be created for the online audience.

A conventional videoconferencing system does not always handle such scenarios, while building a full-scale television studio in some cases requires a dedicated crew and complex equipment. Barco SwiftAgent fills the gap between the two: it enables professional broadcast production with a single operator or a small technical team.

What is SwiftAgent

SwiftAgent TFS-2 is a dedicated hardware appliance running Barco's software platform. The solution operates locally and is controlled through a web interface. SwiftAgent receives video signals over the network, creates multiple program feeds for different screens, and automates some camera operations.

Who is SwiftAgent for

SwiftAgent is designed for corporate AV and IT departments, technical teams at conference centers, universities, and multipurpose venues. The solution is also suitable for organizers of government and corporate events, technical contractors and system integrators that design venues for recurring in-person and hybrid events.

Typical use cases include government and interagency meetings, company-wide meetings, executive presentations, international videoconferences, forums, panel discussions, training sessions, internal broadcasts, mid-sized conferences, and small corporate studio operations.

How it works during a corporate meeting

Before the event begins, the operator uploads presentations, video clips and graphics, checks the cameras, and selects a preconfigured scenario.

During the speaker's presentation, SwiftAgent can track the speaker with a camera and select an appropriate shot. The in-room screen shows the presentation together with the speaker's image, while online viewers receive a separate layout—for example, with additional graphics and remote participants.

When the event moves to a panel discussion, the operator launches a different scenario: the system changes the window layout, brings in additional cameras, and displays the participants on the screens. The main actions are performed from a single web interface, without constantly switching between multiple devices.

Benefits for the technical team and the organization

Automated camera control

The SwiftAgent system analyzes video in real time, detects people in the frame, tracks the speaker, and can automatically switch shots. Barco states that cameras from different manufacturers are supported, so equipment selection is not limited to a single ecosystem.

Automation is especially useful during presentations and discussions, when one specialist is simultaneously controlling the presentation, in-room screens and online program feed. However, it does not eliminate the need for advance setup and rehearsal. If participants move around actively, speak at the same time, or take questions from the audience, the camera logic should be tested in advance and manual control should be available.

Local processing and privacy

Image processing and automated camera control are performed locally on the server. According to Barco, no video footage, facial recognition templates or personal identification data is stored or transmitted: frames are analyzed only while the system is operating and are immediately discarded. Automatic tracking can be disabled and the system switched to manual control. For internal corporate events, this is an important advantage over solutions that send the video stream to external cloud services.

Key considerations for system design

SwiftAgent transports uncompressed video over the network, so the infrastructure must be sized in advance for bandwidth, synchronization, and stream routing. The ability to connect up to four inputs does not mean that the server can process four input signals simultaneously in every operating mode: the stated processing capacity is three inputs and four 4K60 outputs.

Up to 64 layers per output refers to the number of elements in a composition, not the number of independent input video signals. In addition, the monitoring Multi-Viewer uses one of the available outputs. These limitations should be taken into account when designing the system architecture.

SwiftAgent plays H.264 video clips at up to Full HD resolution. If the project requires other codecs, higher-resolution file playback, additional audio formats, or specific color reproduction parameters, component compatibility should be verified before delivery.
