Barco Projection Powers the Immersive Exhibition “Being Van Gogh” in Tashkent

1
With the support of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, the immersive multimedia exhibition “Being Van Gogh” was presented at Tashkent City Mall.

Dedicated to the life and artistic legacy of Vincent van Gogh, the exhibition transforms more than 1,400 m² into a continuous visual narrative built on large-format projection and spatial storytelling.

The exhibition combines two large-scale multimedia shows with three thematic zones, guiding visitors through key stages of the artist’s life—from his inner world to his creative evolution and enduring influence. Projection plays a central role in shaping the scenography and conveying the emotional depth of Van Gogh’s work.

The Challenge

The curators aimed to create a seamless immersive visual environment across multiple halls with different spatial characteristics.
Key requirements included:

The Solution

The project was realized using a professional projection system from Barco, previously installed at Tashkent City Mall.
For the exhibition, projection scenarios and brightness levels were carefully reconfigured to match the new content and the artistic requirements of each zone.

Barco projector setup:

4 × Barco G60-W7
28 × Barco G62-W9
1 × Barco G62-W14
4 × Barco G100-W22

This mix of laser projectors with different brightness classes allowed precise matching of performance to each space.

The Result

Barco projection technology enabled the creation of a cohesive immersive experience, where visuals are fully integrated into the exhibition architecture rather than perceived as a separate technical layer.

By balancing brightness, color consistency, and resolution across all zones, the projection system supports a continuous visual rhythm and reinforces the exhibition’s narrative flow—delivering a stable, high-quality image experience from the first room to the last.
