Barco Professional Projectors for Alem AI

1

At the ALEM AI International Center for Artificial Intelligence in Astana, Kazakhstan, visitors don’t just learn about AI; they experience it. From the moment they enter, projection-driven environments guide them through a world where technology, creativity, and education converge. Across immersive tunnels, cinematic spaces, and interactive installations, a Barco-powered visual layer brings content to life, transforming complex topics into engaging, intuitive experiences.

A museum designed for interaction

Conceived as a multifunctional exhibition and demonstration space, ALEM AI brings together educational, research, and public-facing formats under one roof. The venue features an interactive exhibition on the history of artificial intelligence, art installations, an immersive cinema, and dedicated robotics zones.

Rather than relying on static displays, the museum was built as a fully interactive environment. Visitors engage with content through visual and multimedia scenarios, making projection a core storytelling medium. As a result, the entire space places high demands on image quality, system stability, and the precision of projection technology.

Designing a seamless journey inside a complex space

To deliver this vision, museum bureau Pitch and its partner SILA SVETA designed over 4,500 square meters of exhibition space, including the Museum of Singularity, immersive tunnels, AI Cinema, children’s zones, and startup areas. Every installation needed to work together as part of a unified visitor journey, while integrating projection, interactive mechanics, and AI-driven elements directly into the architecture.

The challenge lay not only in the scale, but also in the architecture itself. The radial design of the EXPO-2017 pavilion introduces constant natural light and complex projection surfaces. For system integrator Asimetrik AVL, working in close collaboration with projection equipment supplier Sound Creations, the task was to create a projection system capable of delivering bright, detailed 4K visuals, while remaining flexible across multiple zones and maintaining consistent performance under daily use.

A flexible projection ecosystem built for precision

The solution was a carefully balanced projection setup built on Barco professional laser phosphor DLP projectors, supplied by Sound Creations and implemented by system integrator Asimetrik AVL. By combining Barco I-Series and G-Series models, the team created a system that adapts to different spatial and technical requirements without compromising visual consistency.

At the core of the setup, Barco’s I600-4K projectors – part of Barco’s flagship installation range – deliver high image detail, accurate color reproduction, and the visual depth required for content-rich environments such as the Museum of Singularity and the AI Cinema.

To complement this, the G100 projectors provide the additional brightness needed in areas with higher ambient light, including spaces influenced by the natural daylight of the pavilion. This ensures that content remains vivid and clearly visible, without compromising the overall visual consistency of the experience.

A wide range of lenses, from ultra-short-throw to mid-throw zoom, allows projection to be precisely tailored to each surface, preserving image geometry while integrating seamlessly into the exhibition design. The result is a system that supports everything from panoramic storytelling to interactive applications within a single, flexible setup.

A future-forward stage for AI innovation

Today, projection is fully embedded into the ALEM AI experience, shaping how visitors explore and understand artificial intelligence across every zone – from immersive tunnels to interactive children’s spaces.

For visitors, this translates into a seamless and intuitive journey. Complex AI concepts become easier to grasp through clear, high-resolution visuals and responsive, interactive storytelling. The consistent image quality across environments ensures that every experience, whether cinematic, educational, or playful, feels connected and immersive.

Beyond the immediate experience, the flexible projection setup enables ALEM AI to continuously refresh and evolve its content. As artificial intelligence advances, the center can adapt its storytelling to stay relevant, offering visitors new reasons to return and explore what’s next.
