Large conferences, exhibitions and product launches often use multiple screens to display presentations, graphics and video content. Video feeds from cameras and other sources are distributed across main screens and auxiliary monitors. Switching between different content sources must also be coordinated with the event programme.
When several screens are operating simultaneously, technical teams need to manage video sources, distribute images and switch content during presentations. The Barco Encore3 video processor brings these tasks together by processing video signals, routing content to different screens and switching between preconfigured screen layouts without changing the physical connections.
During a new car launch, the central screen may display the vehicle's technical specifications, while side screens show a close-up of the company executive speaking on stage. Additional display surfaces are used for graphics and video content.
Simply switching between sources is not enough. Each screen requires different content, and transitions must follow the presentation programme. Some screens may also need to display several video sources simultaneously.
Encore3 supports the creation of predefined screen layouts and switching between them during an event. Its standard configuration provides 16 inputs and 8 outputs, supporting 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. The processor can also display multiple video sources on a single screen.
At Auto China 2026, the international automotive exhibition in Beijing, 11 Barco Encore3 video processors, six Barco E2 Gen2 processors and Barco QDX-4K45 projectors were used across the Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen and Geely exhibition stands.
The Mercedes-Benz stand featured three large LED screens. Two Encore3 processors managed video distribution across the displays and transitions between archival footage and presentations of new vehicles.
The Audi stand incorporated LED screens with different aspect ratios. Video signal management was handled by four Encore3 processors working alongside six E2 Gen2 processors.
At the Geely stand, one Encore3 processor managed video signals for a projection system comprising 14 Barco QDX-4K45 projectors. A second Encore3 served as a backup in case the primary processor failed.
At Auto China 2026, Encore3 processors were used to manage content on curved LED screens, coordinate video across multiple display surfaces and provide redundancy for projection systems.
In 2025, an Encore3 video processor was used at the McLeod Software conference in the United States.
The event featured an LED video wall with a total resolution of 11,648 × 1,728 pixels. Four 4K output signals were required to deliver content to the display.
In addition to feeding the main LED video wall, the Barco Encore3 processor provided video signals to two auxiliary monitors on stage and a separate output for event recording. The processor handled video feeds from cameras, graphics computers and media playback devices.
This example illustrates an important consideration when selecting a video processor: the requirements depend not only on screen resolution, but also on the number of output signals and video sources that need to be displayed simultaneously.
When projecting onto irregularly shaped surfaces, content is distributed across multiple projectors. In such installations, the individual image sections must be aligned, and the overlapping areas between adjacent projections must be configured.
Encore3 processes and distributes video signals and supports edge blending between adjacent projections. Creating video content and performing advanced geometric correction to match the shape of a projection surface require separate software and projector calibration tools.
When specifying an Encore3 video processor, key factors include the number of video sources, screen resolutions and the number of images that must be displayed simultaneously. Additional outputs for auxiliary monitors and event recording must also be taken into account.
Encore3 features dual redundant power supplies, reducing the risk of interruption if one power supply fails. Protection against failure of the video processor itself requires a separate backup unit. This configuration was used at the Geely stand during Auto China 2026.
The Barco Encore3 video processor is designed for large corporate events, exhibition venues and multipurpose halls that use multiple screens and video sources. It provides control over content across different display surfaces and enables operators to switch between predefined layouts during an event.
