Barco has introduced the fifth-generation ClickShare Button, designed for wireless content sharing from a laptop to a meeting room display. The device retains its familiar operating principle: users connect the Button to their laptop via USB-C and press it when they are ready to share. The new generation supports content sharing in up to 4K resolution, Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, and DisplayPort Alt Mode over USB-C.
The new generation is designed for corporate meeting rooms where employees and guests use different laptops, and IT security policies may restrict the installation of software and drivers. The ClickShare Button simplifies connecting to meeting room equipment and reduces the time needed to prepare for a presentation.
The basic operating principle remains unchanged. To start sharing content, users connect the ClickShare Button to their laptop's USB-C port, wait until the device is ready, and press the Button.
Content is transmitted wirelessly to the meeting room display through a compatible ClickShare system. Users do not need to manually select an input source on the display or navigate complicated equipment settings.
This connection method is particularly convenient in meeting rooms shared by different employees and during meetings with external partners. Guests can present content from their own laptops without extensive preparation.
One of the key improvements is support for DisplayPort Alt Mode over USB-C.
DisplayPort Alt Mode allows video signals to be transmitted directly through a laptop's USB-C connection. If the laptop supports this mode, the ClickShare Button can receive the video signal without requiring users to download additional drivers or install applications.
This is particularly important for organisations with centrally managed corporate devices. In many companies, employees cannot install software independently, while the use of external devices is governed by internal IT security policies.
With DisplayPort Alt Mode support, laptops can share content through the Button without additional driver installation.
The fifth-generation ClickShare Button is compatible with major operating systems, including Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, and Linux.
If a laptop does not support DisplayPort Alt Mode, the ClickShare App provides an alternative way to share content. In this case, the application needs to be installed on the device.
The fifth-generation ClickShare Button supports content sharing in up to 4K resolution. This helps preserve the detail of high-resolution source content, including spreadsheets, technical drawings, and graphics. The Button does not upscale lower-resolution content to 4K.
This capability is valuable beyond standard presentations. Meeting rooms are increasingly used to review architectural drawings, technical documentation, financial reports, and projects where accurate visual representation is essential.
Wi-Fi 6E is used for wireless content transmission. According to Barco, this technology provides increased bandwidth and a more robust wireless connection.
Thanks to wireless content sharing, no separate video cable is required between the laptop and the meeting room display system.
Another advantage of the ClickShare Button is that users decide exactly when to start sharing their content.
Connecting the Button to a laptop does not automatically display the laptop's content on the meeting room screen. Sharing begins only when the user presses the Button.
Before presenting, users can open the necessary documents and prepare their screen without displaying the content to other meeting participants.
This is particularly useful during meetings with clients, company management, or external partners, where controlling the moment a presentation begins is important.
The ClickShare App offers additional content-sharing options, including screen duplication, desktop extension, and sharing a specific application.
The fifth-generation ClickShare Button is designed to work seamlessly with Barco ClickShare Hub, a system for wireless meetings and video conferencing.
ClickShare Hub brings together meeting room devices, video conferencing capabilities, and wireless content sharing in a single modular solution.
Within this system, the ClickShare Button provides a simple way to share content from a laptop. Users connect the device and start sharing with a single press, without changing the conferencing system's settings.
For system integrators, this approach makes it possible to design meeting rooms with a consistent user experience. Employees do not need to learn different connection procedures for different rooms.
The fifth-generation ClickShare Button retains its familiar connection method and, when the laptop supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, allows users to start sharing without downloading drivers.
DisplayPort Alt Mode over USB-C simplifies video transmission without additional software installation. The Button supports content sharing in up to 4K resolution, provided the source signal supports that resolution, while Wi-Fi 6E enables wireless connectivity.
For corporate customers, this provides a straightforward and consistent presentation experience, particularly in meeting rooms used by numerous employees and external visitors.
When designing these spaces, it is important to consider laptop compatibility, IT security requirements, display specifications, and the configuration of the ClickShare system.
Barco ClickShare solutions are available from Sound Creations stock in Astana, Almaty, and Tashkent.
